Electrical devices sold in the EU must meet every directive that applies to them before they can carry the CE mark. We identify which directives apply to your product and guide you through what comes next.

Directives That Commonly Apply
The directives that usually apply
Most electrical devices are covered by more than one directive at once. The exact combination depends on the product, so we start by confirming which of these apply to yours.
- Low Voltage Directive 2014/35/EU — electrical safety for equipment operating between 50–1000 V AC or 75–1500 V DC
- EMC Directive 2014/30/EU — electromagnetic compatibility
- RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU — restriction of hazardous substances
- Radio Equipment Directive 2014/53/EU — if the device has a wireless interface
- WEEE Directive — end-of-life collection and recycling obligations
Standards and Risk Management
Once we know which directives apply to your device, we’ll work out the applicable harmonised standards, testing requirements, and risk management documentation needed for your specific product.
- Confirm the harmonised standards that apply
- Plan any testing that’s needed
- Prepare risk management documentation
- Compile the Technical File
- Issue the EU Declaration of Conformity
Start with the product, not the paperwork
Send us the product description and its rated supply. That’s usually enough for us to confirm which directives apply and what happens next.
