ISO 9001 for Printing and Packaging,
Built Around the Press
We help commercial printers, label converters and packaging manufacturers implement a quality management system that reflects how a job actually runs — artwork approval, proofing and colour sign-off, makeready, press checks and dispatch — documented once, used on the floor, and ready for the certification audit.

A Quality System That Catches the Job Before It Ships
What ISO 9001 requires of a print or packaging operation
Most print and packaging quality failures are not press failures. They are the wrong artwork version, an unapproved proof, a substrate swap nobody recorded, or a colour sign-off that happened verbally at two in the morning. ISO 9001 gives you a way to control those handovers on purpose, so the job that reaches the customer is the job they approved.
- Artwork receipt, version control and proof approval
- Colour management, sign-off and press checks
- Makeready, setup approval and in-run sampling
- Substrate, ink and consumable lot traceability
- Spoilage, reprints and customer complaint handling
From gap analysis to certification
Implementation works best when the system is built from your existing job bag, not from a manual. We document the checks your prepress and press teams already make, close the gaps against ISO 9001, and prepare your team for the certification audit — including the evidence a brand owner’s supplier audit will ask for.
- Gap analysis against ISO 9001, mapped to your existing job workflow
- Documented information, work instructions and records structure
- Internal audit programme and management review
- Corrective action, complaint handling and continual improvement
- Support through Stage 1 and Stage 2 certification audits
Food-contact packaging and what customers ask for
If you print or convert packaging that touches food, ISO 9001 sits alongside obligations that are not optional — FDA requirements for food-contact substances, ink and adhesive migration, and the supplier documentation your brand-owner customers will request. Some will ask for BRCGS Packaging Materials rather than, or as well as, ISO 9001. Liberty Compliance Solutions is part of Liberty Management Group, an FDA regulatory consultancy, so the certification and the food-contact side can be looked at together rather than by two firms. If you are being asked for a standard and are not sure which one, we can work that out with you first.
